Fangirling 101

Per Merriam-Webster dictionary, “Fangirling” is defined as:

A girl or woman who is an extremely or overly enthusiastic fan of someone or something;

To Exhibit fandom often to an excessive degree : to behave like an extremely devoted or overly excited fangirl.

Ladies and Gentlemen…..I am a fangirl! Wait, let me back up and start from the beginning…..

I started reading this book, Dear Life by Meghan Quinn; now, this isn’t your typical rom-com story…no, this book was deep and emotional. I read this book in ONE DAY!

There is a message that carries through the entire story “Prove Your Existence”. Each of the characters had this task. It made me think, wow! What a thought? How do I prove my existence? Well, I wasn’t. I was sitting by and letting life happen. I wasn’t putting myself out there and after reading Dear Life, that mentality changed.

Which now brings me to Fangirling….because you see, I had the most amazing opportunity to meet the author, Meghan Quinn, at Indies Invade Philly in 2017…..and yes….I total fangirled!!! I have video and photographic proof of it. And I am not ashamed of it!!!

In 2018, I attended Book Bonanza in Denver, Colorado, where yet again, I fangirled over Meghan! But this time, I was able to show her a tat that I got because of her book, what a moment!!!

So, I have lived up to Merriam-Webster’s definition of fangirl and I am here to say…

I AM A PROUD FANGIRL!!!!!!

Personal Review…..

I popped my CoHo cherry last night, I read All Your Perfects. You see my girlfriend, Melanie Maloney, has been telling me I need to read Colleen’s books. So, I did it. And what a story to start with.

You see, I am Quinn, I am a woman who suffered with infertility until 2005 when at the age of 31, I had to have a hysterectomy. When I married my husband in 2001, I wanted so badly to have a baby with him. But, it wasn’t meant for me.

Colleen Hoover I want you to know you nailed every emotion that goes along with infertility! I have to express my thanks to you for writing Quinn and Graham’s story; as my girlfriend told me (as I was messaging her while I was reading), reading this could be therapeutic….and it was. You see, as I was reading, I realized how I pulled away from my husband; How I distanced myself from him.

You know what I did today, i apologized to him (I had never done that), I told him I was sorry for checking out and I told him that I Loved him with all my heart and I thanked him for standing with me.

So, Colleen, thank you for helping see what I needed.

My review:

“If you only shine light on your flaws, all your perfects will dim”

I have been processing my emotions since I finished All Your Perfects 2 hours ago.

I’m going to preface this review with this statement: I have popped my CoHo cherry. That’s right All Your Perfects is my first CoHo book and it has opened me to a new author that I am ready to devour everything she has written.

Okay, now to the review……When I read the blurb, I thought “okay, this is going to be an emotional story, perfect!”; what I didn’t realize was how this book was going to hit me and I mean it HIT me in my heart, in my head and in my gut. Quinn and Graham’s story was so well written and so on-point for couples suffering from infertility, it makes you sit and think “what would I do”, well I can tell you, I was in this situation with my husband and it has been a long and perilous road….just like it was for Quinn and Graham.

Ms. Hoover did such a fantastic weaving of their story….from how they met to how their marriage progressed to how they dealt with the all the emotions and loss they were dealt with. All Your Perfects was pure and utter perfection. It is at the top of my list for 2019!

I want to share my most fav quotes:

“My husband’s heart was my saving grace, but his physical touch has become my enemy”

“be my wife Quinn. Weather the Category 5 moments with me”

“Our circumstances changed. Our dreams changed. Our expectations changed. But the most important thing between us never changed”
